New Course, New Concept – The Ultimate Trail for the Toughest Athletes
The HK30 Extreme is a true alpine adventure. Covering 35.7 km and 2,663 m ascent, it combines steep climbs, rocky ridges and breathtaking views – a real challenge at Hochkönig Ultraks.
In addition to excellent sure-footedness and experience in high-altitude terrain, participants must have a minimum of 450 points in the ITRA Performance Index to take part in the HK30 Extreme.

Compulsory Equipment
Must Always Be Carried
The following items must be carried at all times during the race:
- Running vest or running belt
- Mobile phone
- ID document
- Water container (min. 0.5l)
- Food supply (e.g. gels/energy bars)
- Rescue blanket (1.40m x 2m)
- Whistle
- First aid kit (incl. elastic bandage)
- Warm clothing (long-sleeved layer, long trousers or leg warmers, gloves)
- Waterproof jacket (with hood and sealed seams)
- Soft cup
- Bib number ban (wear race number visibly)
In case of high temperatures, the following additional items are required:
- Sun cap/headgear
- Sun cream
- Sunglasses (UV400)
- Additional soft flask
- Electrolytes/salts
In case of cold weather or poor conditions, the following additional items are required:
- Midlayer (second layer of insulation e.g. fleece or thin down jacket)
- Waterproof overpants
- Warm hat
- Warm gloves (no thin running gloves)
Under special weather or course conditions (depending on the situation on race day), the following additional items must be carried:
- Spikes
- Gloves (for gripping steel cables and ropes)
- Lightweight climbing harness Klettergeschirr
- Carabiner + Descender (e.g. Petzl Reverso)
